Where I’m coming from
I’m a parent working in healthcare. I homeschooled both of my children in California through a charter school, my daughter from first through sixth grade and my son from fourth through eighth.
Both later graduated high school as valedictorians. My daughter skipped eighth grade and attended public high school. She took both dual and concurrent enrollment classes and graduated high school at sixteen. The college credits she earned enabled her to finish college in two years.
She asked to skip eighth grade. I did not push her. Her path was hers, and I do not present it as the outcome another family should aim for.
How I want this guide to help
I want families to know which questions to ask, where to find official answers, and what still needs confirmation. You can read the free guides and explore the college directory at your own pace.

What I will not assume
I will not turn one family’s experience into a statewide rule. When a policy depends on the school, college, campus, or major, the guide should say so.
